Loosely translated, Soroptimist means "best for women". That's what we aim to be: women (and men!) at our best, helping other women to be their best.

Soroptimist International of the East Valley was formed in 1971 as Soroptimist International of Apache Junction. We have proudly served area women and girls with community outreach and our Dream Programs: Live Your Dream Awards and Dream It Be It Career Planning for Girls. Soroptimist International of the East Valley serves the areas of Apache Junction, Gold Canyon, Florence, Superior, Safford, Globe, Mesa, Tempe and San Tan Valley.

How We Empower Women & Girls

Soroptimist's Live Your Dream Awards Program is a unique education award for women who provide the primary financial support for their families.

The Live Your Dream Awards give women the resources they need to improve their education, skills and employment prospects, and helps fund women’s efforts to increase their education or improve their skills, often functioning as the only source of financial support for women where no other granting organizations exist or are accessible.

Scholarship Applications are now open until November 15, 2025.

Dream It, Be It: Career Support for Girls gives girls the tools they need to achieve their education and career goals, empowering them to break cycles of poverty, violence, and abuse.

What We Do

Although all girls face barriers because of their gender, we prioritize working with girls who have additional obstacles including poverty, unstable home lives, living in foster care, or teen motherhood. Soroptimist clubs work in partnership with girls in small groups or a conference setting to provide them with the information and resources they want and need to be successful.

Impact Document

Career support includes help and assistance to pursue an occupation that will offer opportunities for long-term success. Although we don’t think all girls will know what they want to do for the rest of their lives, the skills they learn in Dream It, Be It will help them regardless of the career they choose to pursue or when they choose to pursue it.
